WELCOME TO LIVE EDGE SLAB

Live edge sawn timber is currently highly sought after, and as such we stock a huge variety of unique looking timber for all requirements. We pride ourselves on selecting timber that showcases the natural beauty and characteristics that locally sourced natural timber has to offer.

Live edge slab is small family run sawmill with extensive carpentry and forestry knowledge. Sawmilling, Carpentry and fine joinery has been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember.

We are proud of producing high quality timber, mainly oversize pieces. The majority of our timber starts from 900mm in width up to 2000mm. The length is also variable, starting mainly from 2000mm up to 4500mm, with a thickness from 65mm to 100mm.

We can also cut from any trunk to bespoke measurements.

We have a wide selection of slabs for you to choose from, from textured and detailed Oak, Beech, Sweet Chestnut, Maple, Giant Redwood and Walnut - and we can saw to length any piece of timber to any size you need.

Our timber is carefully selected from forestry operator tree surgeons locally and from all over the country. We are willing to travel miles to get THAT LOG.

After the log arrives at our yard it gets stacked up on the pile waiting for it’s turn to be milled.
Our mill can take up maximum log size of 1400 x 4800mm.
All other larger logs are then cut to size on the alaskan mill with maximum cut size of 2200mm.

Our Recent Projects

Kiln Drying

We have two traditional dehumidifying kilns with 20ft loading space. All the timber is air dried for a minimum of one year. We then add a few weeks in the kiln, dropping the moisture content to 6-10% - then it’s ready to work on! The kilns can produce a constant temperature of 50 deg Celsius to kill all living organisms like woodworm. This temperature is crucial in supplying joinery ready products.
